A lot can happen over the months between when Rhythm and Vines goes on sale and the event. Unfortunately, we get a number of enquiries about partners separating during this time and get asked the question of who owns the tickets that they purchased together.
The majority of the time, the tickets they purchased together get sorted; however, understandably, there are situations where the two parties aren't communicating with each other. Ideally, we ask that the two parties sort it out between themselves.
However, if it comes down to it, regardless of whether you purchased via Moshtix or Rhythm and Vines packages page, tickets are officially owned by the Purchaser, who is considered the Account Holder. This is the person whose name is on the account and who made the payment.
NO, not Ticket Insurance as such, HOWEVER, Moshtix does offer a service called Secure Tickets for an additional fee at the time of purchase. Find out more below
VISIT SECURE TICKET
Insurance is not available for Bookatent Premium, Hotel or Motel packages.
If your ticket remains unsold once Ticket Return closes, the ticket remains valid and is deemed the property of the original purchaser. You will still be able to use your ticket to attend the festival. *Note – The Ticket Return fee is charged once sold.

Your 3-DAY GA FESTIVAL PASS gains you access to the festival (excluding camping), which starts at 2 pm each day on DECEMBER 29, DECEMBER 30 and DECEMBER 31.
The festival hours are as follows:
A 3-Day General Admission Pass does NOT include camping.
Ticket Return (formerly Resale) will only become available once the festival sells out or during a set time period stipulated by the festival. Please refer to How does Ticket Return work (formerly Resale)?
You will have an opportunity to purchase tickets from Ticket Return from our Moshtix tickets page when they are released. We recommend you check back frequently, as Ticket Return tickets are released only once someone has listed it for resale.
DO NOT BUY a R&V ticket from anyone who has advertised a ticket for sale on social media. There are no name changes for standalone tickets, therefore there are no private sales. This is to stop scammers from defrauding people and stealing their money.
You should have received a confirmation of your purchase as soon as you buy your ticket or package. If you haven't received confirmation, it is highly likely you entered your email address wrong when purchasing. Depending on what ticket or package you purchased, contact either Moshtix or our Premium Services below.
As an extended security measure against scamming, we don't send out tickets with bar-codes for Rhythm and Vines until December.

Ticket Return (formerly Resale) will only become available once the festival sells out. How does Ticket Return work (formerly Resale)?
For tickets on Moshtix, once your tickets have sold, you will be refunded your original ticket, less the $12.50 Ticket Return fee and the original Moshtix booking and transaction fees.
Tickets can only be offered for Ticket Return by the original purchaser of the tickets. If you are a ticket holder and wish to offer your ticket for resale, you will need to arrange the Ticket Return of your ticket with the purchaser (account holder).
Ticket Return (formerly Resale) will only become available once the festival allocation sells out or during a set time period stipulated by the festival. More info below.
How does Ticket Return work (formerly Resale)?
Tickets go on sale in early January each year.
So you can pretty much buy your R&V ticket at any stage during the year. However, once tickets sell out, they become more expensive via Ticket Return, so we encourage you to purchase early during the presale.
No private sales, name changes or transfers are permitted, and this is clearly outlined at the point of purchase. Due to amount of scammers and scalpers operating, this functionality is not available for Rhythm and Vines.
The only exception is for Premium Packages (Glamping, Prem-Tent, Hotel & Motel packages), which the account holder may request name changes within the package.
* Fees, terms & conditions apply.
Please note to ensure the validity of the ticket, we require the name on each ticket to match the name of the ticket holder. At the event, security will check to ensure the name on the ticket matches the name of the ticket holder’s ID.
How does Ticket Return work (formerly Resale)?
To minimise the harm caused by Scalpers and Scammers, all unwanted tickets must be listed for Ticket Return when this option becomes available.
Please note private sales are not possible via the official Ticket Return facility. Please keep an eye on the event website and your Moshtix account for further updates on when the option will become available.
If you would like to take your ticket(s) back before they have been resold, you can now do so by logging into your Moshtix account and selecting the ‘Cancel Ticket Return’ option. Once you have selected this option, you will need to select the tickets you no longer wish to list on Ticket Return.
Once removed from Ticket Return, your tickets will be available via your account. To check the status of your ticket, log in to your Moshtix account and go to the ‘Manage Tickets’ section.
PLEASE NOTE THE BELOW GUIDELINES MAY CHANGE
Each year, Rhythm and Vines and our ticketing partner MOSHTIX work hard to provide a safe and fair Ticket Return process. Ticket Return allows attendees who can no longer make the festival, list their ticket for return for sale in the main event, and provides a safe place for new buyers of tickets to secure them safely.
Our number 1 focus is to reduce harm from scammers and scalpers ripping off innocent people who simply just want to purchase a ticket to Rhythm and Vines.
The festival operates a firm NO REFUND policy. The No Refund Policy is a standard industry practice to provide certainty for event organisers in planning for events. In addition, we require names on the ticket to match the ID of the person attending the festival. This is an additional safety feature we implemented over a number of years to further reduce scammers and scalpers taking advantage of Rhythm and Vines attendees.
Tuesday, 26 November 2024 10amTicketholders are able to login to their Moshtix account and list their Rhythm and Vines tickets for Ticket Return.Thursday, 28 November 2024 10amTICKET RETURN WINDOW OPENS
People will be able to buy tickets in previously sold out campgrounds etc, as Ticket Return tickets are released.Sunday, 8 December 2024 11:59pmTICKET RETURN WINDOW CLOSES*
The Ticket Return window closes and any unsold tickets listed for Ticket Return are returned back to the original owners.* Ticket Return may be turned back on for selected Ticket Types after 8 December.
Moshtix provides a Ticket Secure option which attendees are encouraged to purchase when buying your tickets to the festival.
Ticket Return becomes available once the initial festival allocation has sold out. Please note that not all tickets will be available for Ticket Return.
HOW TO LIST YOUR TICKET FOR TICKET RETURN
Once Ticket Return is enabled, simply login to your Moshtix account with the same email used to purchase and follow these instructions. Once listed, the ticket will go into a pool of tickets that will be released to the public. Ticket Return Window closes at 11:59pm on December 8. If the ticket remains unsold, the ticket is returned to the ticketholder, who is encouraged to do their best to attend the festival. The No Refund Policy will apply.
TICKET RETURN FOR BOOKATENT PACKAGES IN MEADOW, RHYTHM CAMP AND BASS CAMP
Ticket Return is available for Bookatent packages purchased on Moshtix, however it must be the entire package (can not Ticket Return single tickets within a package).
TICKET RETURN FOR BOOKATENT PACKAGES IN PREMIUM CAMP
Ticket Return is NOT available for Bookatent packages purchased via
Rhythmandvines.co.nz/packages website.
Contact our Premium Services team for options here: hello@rhythmandvines.co.nz
TICKET RETURN IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR COMP, COMP BY DONATION OR INDUSTRY TICKETS.
THE BUYER
Buyers will be able to purchase tickets released via Ticket Return during the Ticket Return period. These tickets are found on the main R&V x Moshtix ticketing page.
NO REFUND POLICY
Reminder that the festival operates a firm NO REFUND POLICY. This is a standard event ticketing policy across the industry to provide certainty for event planners.
WHY CAN’T I SIMPLY CHANGE THE NAME ON THE TICKET?
Again, Rhythm and Vines operates a NO REFUND POLICY. As an additional security measure, we require ticket holders to enter their Full Names on each individual ticket, to ensure that the person attending matches the ID of the attendee at the festival check in. Not only does this make it harder for scammers and scalpers to operate, this also allows us to fulfill our liquor licensing requirements and also helps facilitate our RFID wristband technology, which offers a range of benefits including attendee safety.
OTHER TICKETING TIPS
Unfortunately not. Rhythm and Vines has a strict no-refund policy. Rhythm and Vines operates a healthy Ticket Return market later in the year, so you have a great chance of returning your ticket for sale, for someone else to purchase. Please note that this is subject to the festival allocation selling out.
Yes, you can purchase up to four tickets under one account. This is to reduce ticket scalping and to reduce other issues with multiple ticket purchases.
Yes! Tickets purchased via the Moshtix Official Ticket Return Facility work exactly the same way as those originally sold to the event via Moshtix. This means that when you purchase your Ticket Return ticket, Moshtix will collect name and/or date of birth information for each ticket.
Limited single-day tickets are released depending on capacity. This gives you single-day access to the festival either DECEMBER 29, DECEMBER 30 OR DECEMBER 31.
You won’t be able to access the campgrounds on a single-day pass. Nearby Woodland's Camping offer accommodation for single-day ticket holders.
Technically, we don't have upgrades.
If you already have a ticket, and you decide to purchase a more expensive ticket or package, then you may apply to have your original ticket refunded.
We recommend you contact Moshtix to assess your options.
This is to ensure you are who you say you are and acts as an extra measure against scamming and scalping, as well as an additional tool for managing our liquor licence for the festival. The name on your ticket will link to your RFID wristband.
All names on tickets have to match your ID when checked at the gate.
Make sure you've put the correct name on your ticket so you have no problems coming into party with us.
Gold Passes were made available to Treble Campers only.
The GOLD Pass includes express check-in, dedicated showers and flush loo facilities, chill out space and access to a powder room within Treble or Camp. Tent is not included.
People who have a GOLD PASS can still tent with mates who don't have it, but only the GOLD PASS members will have access to the Gold facilities.
Air mattresses and camping rolls are best suited to the onsite camping environment. Bring your sleeping bag/duvet and pillow to make your camp bed nice and cozy!
Foam mattresses are not permitted as they pose a potential fire hazard.
Yes.
People who have a GOLD PASS can still tent with mates who don't have it, but only the GOLD PASS members will have access to the Gold facilities.
No. Our liquor licence does NOT allow BYO alcohol (bring your own alcohol). Our lively Camp Bars will provide drinks at very reasonable prices. The camp bars will be open the following hours:
The Festival bars located within the festival site open from 2pm each day from December 29th. Times are subject to change.
There are no Campervan facilities at R&V, sorry. However, you are welcome to park it in the festival car park, but you won't be able to sleep in it.

You sure can! This is part of the attraction of the Onsite Camping experience. If you want to get away from it all for a break or a quick lie down, you’re only minutes away from your tent.
Please note that due to the conditions of our liquor licence, there will be a one-way door policy at midnight on December 29th and 30th and then at 2:30 am on the 31st. Once you leave the festival site after these hours, you won’t be allowed back in.
We work hard to ensure a good customer experience in the campgrounds with the right number of showers, toilets etc., hence the strict capacity rules we have in place for onsite camping.
Once the setup period on December 28th is over, all campers can access any of the campgrounds. The exception is that general campers (Bass, Rhythm, Meadow, Sundown, Treble, Lil Treble) cannot access Premium Camp or the Glamping Village.
There is nothing preventing you from sleeping in your mate's tent in a different campground... 😉
Camping amongst the vines at Rhythm and Vines is an experience like no other. Campground facilities include portaloo toilets, camping shower blocks, shaded seating areas, camp stores, garden bars and food courts. All our campgrounds are located onsite, all within a very short walk from all the festival stages.
👈🏼VIEW MAP (note: subject to change)
The different camping zones are as follows:
👈🏼BASS CAMP
Bass Camp is located within our beautiful Waiohika Campgrounds on Waiohika Estate, conveniently on the doorstep of the festival itself. Situated within the vines, near Vines Village, The One Vines Stage and Cellar Stage.
👈🏼RHYTHM CAMP
Rhythm Camp is our smallest camping zone, nestled within the vines between Cellar Stage and Rhythm Stage.
👈🏼MEADOW CAMP
Meadow Camp is tucked in the pastures behind the Rhythm Stage. An open field camping experience, plenty of space and the quietest campground to escape it all.
👈🏼TREBLE CAMP
Treble Camp is the festival’s largest campground. Situated within the vines, on the outskirts of the festival, Treble Camp is the closest campground to the main carpark of the festival, and only 5mins walk to get from your tent through to the festival gates. They don’t call it Trouble Camp for anything.
TREBLE GOLD PASS holders include express check-in, dedicated showers and flush loo facilities, chill-out space and access to a powder room within Treble Camp. A tent is not included. People who have a GOLD PASS can still tent with mates who don't have it, but only the GOLD PASS members will have access to the Gold facilities.
👈🏼LIL TREBLE
Lil Treble Camp is a boutique camping offering right next to Treble Camp and our closest campground to the festival carpark.
👈🏼PREMIUM CAMP
Premium Camp offers a more refined camping product with a limited capacity and access to more modern camping facilities such as showers and toilets. All Premium Campers get the additional benefit of Vintage Club access once in the festival itself. Premium Camp is located opposite Sundown Camp and is very handy to the festival entrance.
The best way to ensure you can camp with your friends is to be sure you have purchased for the same Camp and arrive together.
Camping spots are allocated by staff upon your arrival to ensure there's enough space for everyone. Meet up with your group before heading over to Camping so that you can get neighbouring spots.
If you have a Bookatent Premium package (Glamping and Prem-Tent), the spots are allocated in advance. You may email hello@rhythmandvines.co.nz to make a co-location request for packages.
Yes, if you have a camping ticket for Treble, Sundown, Rhythm, Bass, Meadow Camp, Lil Treble or Premium Camp, then you need to bring your own tent. (And remove it after the festival!).
And, of course, if you purchased one of our Bookatent Premium Packages in Premium Camp (via Glamp + Prem Tent packages). These packages obviously include your tent.
If you have a Camping ticket, you will be able to visit friends in any campground once the festival is operating. However, during the load-in day on December 28th, access to the campgrounds will be limited to the Camp you have purchased for. This is to ensure efficient load-in and helps improve the overall camping experience.
General campers can not visit Premium Camp, Glamping, or Prem-Tent Village, which are exclusive to holders of Premium Camp wristbands. Premium Campers are allowed to visit all other General Camp zones.
No, the camping sites are not powered. Premium Camp and onsite accommodation packages offer phone charging stations. We recommend bringing a fully charged power bank to R&V to keep your phone going!
Woodlands Camping is located at a neighbouring property next to R&V.
They offer multi-day camping packages as well as single-night camping. This campground is R18 and non-BYO.
Campervans are not allowed at Woodlands this year.
Facilities include: Camp shop, toilets and hot showers, girls powder room - for hairdryers etc, and availability to charge your phones, devices etc.
Please visit their website for more info and to buy tickets.
Swapping campsites is subject to availability. To request this, log into your Moshtix account and select "Manage Tickets & Booking History", then "Help with this Order". * Fees may apply.
Therefore, it is important that you buy early to get into your favourite campground.
The campground capacities ensure we have enough infrastructure in place at each campground to provide the ultimate camping experience.
There are no secure lockers onsite. Please don't bring any valuable items to the festival.
👈🏼
For onsite camping at R&V, all tents need to be a normal 4-person tent or smaller (3m x 3m). No oversized tents. Tent size is limited by the width of the space between the vines, which is 3m.
Attendees with medicinal prescriptions can bring it into the festival, but you will need to keep consumption within the prescribed limit (for the amount of time on site) and provide evidence of your prescription beforehand and on-site.
Reach out to hello@rhythmandvines.co.nz to register your script so you don’t have any issues during check-in!

This service is free to patrons and will be open from 11am - 6pm on 29 - 31 December, opposite The Haven. Refer to the Festival Map for the location.
Taxi’s are another common tool people utilise when exiting the festival after the event. They are located out of the main gate by the bus pick up location. Yes, we call it The Haven. Being a festival, we love to create spaces that are stimulating for all of the senses. However, we know this can sometimes get overwhelming. THE HAVEN is our safe space area that is located next to St Johns and other medical services. THE HAVEN provides a relaxing sanctuary where trained staff are available for anyone that needs extra support or a quiet moment away. We want everyone to feel safe, so take care of each other. Visit The Haven, or tell security if something doesn’t seem right.
Rhythm and Vines have teamed up with TURN to take climate action and fight single-use plastics. TURN cups are REUSABLE and a green alternative to single-use plastic cups. The catch?
This only works if you reTURN your cup to the designated reTURN bins throughout the festival. Scan the QR code on TURN cups or bar signs to enter to win exclusive rewards. The earth thanks you!
How to join the reTURNable revolution and win rewards:
Rhythm & Vines is strictly R18. Anyone under this age will be denied entry.
You must be 18 on the day you check in to R&V. For example (and unfortunately), if you are turning 18 on December 29, then you will only be allowed entry on December 29 and won’t be allowed into the campgrounds on December 28.
To be admitted to the festival, everyone must show a valid photo ID in addition to your ticket with bar-code.
Rhythm & Vines is one of the first festivals in the world to provide vape recycling service on-site. VapeCycle is back on site this year, and they guarantee to recycle 100% of the products returned to their bins at R&V. You can find VapeCycle Bins in each of the 3 General Stores.Head to the website below to find out more.

Summer means road trips, parties, BBQs, and of course festival season. With plenty of people on the road to R&V, it’s important to look after yourself and your mates so everyone can get to and from Gisborne safely.
If you and your mates plan on drinking or taking drugs, plan not to drive — use public transport, call a taxi, camp, or make sure one of your mates takes on the role of sober driver both on the way and way back.
There are legal limits for blood-alcohol levels when driving depending on your age, but the safest option is to drive sober. If you’ve been drinking the night before, you may still have the effects of alcohol the morning after.
If you’re unsure whether you’re still affected by alcohol or drugs, rest up before driving, share the driving with someone else, or arrange another way home. It’s always better to wait than risk hurting yourself or others.
Limits for blood-alcohol levels
Before you get behind the wheel, make sure you’re well rested so you’re alert. If you’re on a long roadie include rest beaks every couple of hours and share the driving.
Seatbelts save lives. They support you in a crash or when a vehicle stops suddenly. Make sure everyone buckles up before you start your journey.
Driving requires your full attention, it’s not the time to use your phone. If you’re on a roadie with your mates, put someone in charge of music and directions so you don’t need to reach for your phone.
Travel at a safe speed whenever you drive. This means following the speed limit and adjusting your speed to the road, traffic or weather conditions. In summer, there are more roadworks meaning more traffic as well as temporary speed limits. Plan for detours, rest breaks and extra traffic.
Intercity runs a special bus to and from R&V, with services running to and from Gisborne between Auckland, Napier and Wellington.
If you’re driving, make sure you know where you’re going before you set off. Check our journey planner for up-to-date travel information and journey times.
You can also keep up to date on state highway conditions by following our Facebook pages.
NZTA Hawke’s Bay & Gisborne - Facebook
NZTA Waikato & Bay of Plenty - Facebook
For local road information, you can check out the local council’s websites or Facebook pages.
Make sure you check this before you drive or have a passenger in charge of directions check for you.
This summer roadworkers are out across the country making improvements. Expect delays and allow extra time before you travel. Road workers are out in all weather and do their best to keep everyone moving. Be tolerant and respectful of all crew members and follow any instructions on site. They’re helping to keep you safe.
Wayver is our festival bank system Rhythm and Vines use to keep the event cashless. This helps minimise queues at the bars and improves access control. An RFID chip inside your wristband holds your money.
💡HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can top up your wristband with cash or via Eftpos, Visa or MasterCard at the onsite Top-Up booths (Festival Banks). The wristband will be given to you when you check in to the festival. Stations will be located all over the festival for you to top up as well as refund any money remaining. The first time you top up your electronic wristband, there will be a once-off service fee of $5. The maximum top-up at any one time is $300. Any on-site purchases will be made by scanning your Wayver chip and will deduct funds from your account.
💡WHERE CAN I TOP UP?
At various locations across the festival site. The exact locations will be released closer to the festival, but don't worry about queues, as there will be plenty of Wayver stations all over the site.
