The Rhythm and Vines experience is like no other. A proven formula entrenched in New Zealand festival folklore. Rolling hills, natural amphitheatres, man-made waterslides, multiple fast serving bars and food villages, camping amongst the vines and just incredible New Year's vibes. You just have to experience it to believe it.

A professional festival team packed full of experience come together each year to ensure that your Rhythm and Vines journey is one that will stay with you forever. A safe and fun place to party with you and your friends while you enjoy celebrating the year that was, and the many adventures yet to come.

THE CAMPING EXPERIENCE

You turn up on December 28, set up your tent and get welcomed to your very own Pre-Party for Rhythm and Vines - the Waiohika Warmup. From then on, your home is nestled within the vines for 4 days as you and your friends see in the New Year. Shower and toilet facilities located throughout the campgrounds, and a range of pre-setup camping options.

WAIOHIKA WARMUP

Exclusive to R&V onsite campers only, the Waiohika Warmup is a chance for festival goers to get loose and limber on the night of December 28. 3 stages will be in full flight which include the Heineken Stage, Garden Stage and the Goose Club. Our exclusive party for 15,000 campers, will get you primed for the dance marathon ahead.

THE MANY STAGES OF RHYTHM

The festival venue of Waiohika Estate boasts two main festival amphitheatres (Vines and Rhythm), along with enough nooks and crannies for you to discover your next favourite act hidden away in a garden stage or forest.

Vodafone Vines Stage

Situated in the stunning Vines Amphitheatre. The mainstage for Rhythm and Vines will be your temple for the remaining few days of the year.

Heineken Stage

The Heineken Stage returns. Hearty bass and an expansive dance floor. Come here prepared to dance your ass off. All will be revealed when the gates open.

Cellar Stage

Legend has it that once you find yourself in the Cellar, you will never dance the same again.

Garden Stage

You will find your new favourite band hidden in amongst the lush gardens of Waiohika Homestead.

Greenhouse Bar & Garden

Expect a better world with these Greenhouse emissions.

The Pepsi Max Chiller

No sugars will be given as you head into The Pepsi Max Chiller. Some of the world's best friendships have been found between these four small walls. You will love the Pepsi Max Chiller... if you can find it.

Goose Club

Get down and boogie at the Goose Club, a nightclub like no other and where things will no doubt get loose as a... be sure to be there between 7pm-10pm for the "Goose Show".

Four days of dancing and festivalling requires sustenance. That is why we invite some of the country's best mobile food producers to keep our beloved R&V'ers well fed.

VINES VILLAGE

The Vines Village is located within the heart of the festival and is the perfect meeting point. Foodies heaven and shade to keep you sheltered from the sun or rain.

GRAND CENTRAL

Be greeted by Grand Central as you walk into the festival site. Shop Rhythm Merch store, food vendors, arts and crafts. Grand Central provides.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

It’s easy to over-do it with 3 days of festivities so make sure you are replenishing your body and soul while at the festival. Our safe space and wellness area is a calm oasis, including yoga, avocado toast, nourishing treats, and plenty of space to rest and rejuvenate. Escape the crowd or simply come have a chat.

THE HAVEN

We love to create spaces that are stimulating for all of the senses. However, we know this can sometimes get overwhelming. The Haven is our safe space area that is located next to St Johns and other medical services. The Haven provides a relaxing sanctuary where trained staff are available for anyone that needs extra support or a quiet moment away. We want everyone to feel safe, so take care of each other. Visit The Haven or tell security if you notice something that doesn’t seem right.

THE BARS OF RHYTHM

The festival has a range of fast serving and unique experiential bars located across the festival site. Campsite bars open from 10:30am for campers, with the festival bars opening at 2pm from December 29 each day. Below is a select few of them:

CLEAN COLLECTIVE CANOPY BAR

Head up the Vines amphitheatre hill to the Clean Collective Canopy bar and enjoy the best views of the festival. Soak up the sun, sights and tunes and drink clean while you are at it.

The HEINEKEN Bar

Conveniently located next to the Heineken Stage, The Heineken Bar is the place to be this year with an all new Beer Garden! Sit back, relax and enjoy your refreshing Heineken lager, Orchard Thieves Cider and Pure Piraña Seltzer on the decked-out lawn, and even score some free merch if you’re lucky!

Red Bull Playhouse BAR

Enjoy a summer sundowner at the Red Bull Playhouse, looking back over the festival and checking out your new favourite band at the Garden Stage. Join us at the Red Bull Playhouse from 4-6 PM every day for #REDBULLGOLDENHOUR with sunset tunes and go to summer cocktail, the Red Bull Tropical & Gin.

Mumm VINTAGE CLUB

Exclusive to Vintage Club Premium pass holders. Come and enjoy an exclusive drinks selection including Mumm Champagne, Malfy Gin cocktails and Stoneleigh Wines to name a few. Premium flush toilets and an opportunity to chill before getting back amongst the masses. Join us at 6PM every night for a celebratory ‘Mumm Champagne Fountain’.

GREENHOUSE GARDEN BAR

The Greenhouse Garden Bar is tucked in the vines nearby Treble, Sundown and Premium Camp. Come vibe out amongst the vines and get replenished.

THE BEER GARDEN

Come enjoy some local Gisborne craft brews while chilling in the beer garden.

UNIQUELY RHYTHM
We encourage people to get around the festival to experience the full offering of R&V.
Sign up for art lessons, learn how to fire poi, break dance, or simply chill out on the hammocks before getting back into it.

The first light

Tairāwhiti - "The coast upon which the sun shines across the water." Gisborne being  the land of the first light means you will be first to bring in the New Year.

DRESS UP DAY

Make sure you pack your best costume this year as December 30 will again be our Dress Up Day. Expect to see some stellar get ups that best represent key moments of 2021.

PEPSI MAX WATERSLIDE

Slide your way into 2022 with the Pepsi Max Waterslide. Perfect for the impulsive, the bold, and the brave. Shoot down the hillside on a man-made slide, straight into a pond that’s waiting for you at the bottom of the hill. You can't really say you have done Rhythm without slipping down the Waiohika hillside with absolutely no sugars given.

R&V COUNTDOWN VIDEO AND NEW YEAR'S SHOW

Make sure you have your meeting point sorted with friends to catch the final countdown of the year. A masterfully crafted countdown video will make you laugh and cry as we farewell the decade and welcome in the new.

THE GIZZY EXPERIENCE
The beauty of the East Coast is at your fingertips. We encourage visitors to Gisborne to get out and see what this beautiful part of the country has to offer.

RERE ROCKSLIDE

If the waterslide within the festival isn't enough be sure to check out the Rere Rockslide, this waterfall that creates a natural waterslide is located at a 30min drive east of Gisborne and is a great way to refresh throughout the day.

WAINUI BEACH

Another great way to spend your day out of the campsite is heading over to Wainui beach, which is known for its good surf along the East cape and located just six kilometers from the centre of Gisborne city.
