Rhythm and Vines has been delivering the ultimate New Year’s experience since 2003, and is New Zealand’s longest running music and camping festival. The stunning Waiohika Estate plays home to over 20,000 partygoers each year who have made the journey to Gisborne to celebrate New Year’s with their friends.
The stunning Waiohika Estate is situated 15-20 minutes drive outside of Gisborne. Nestled in the Waimata Valley, the venue is a truly unique festival setting unlike anywhere in the world.
Over 100 international and local acts perform across 7 stages. From some of the hottest talent in Hip Hop, Electronic Dance, Drum and Bass, Trap, Rock, R&B, Folk, Comedy you name it. The festival offers something for everyone.
CAMPING AMONGST THE VINES
15,000 campers stay onsite in amongst the vines, providing a surreal camping experience unlike no other. Friends pitching tents together surrounded by vines, bars, food trucks and music. Seven different camping zones provide unique opportunity for people to meet, party and eventually rest before each big day of celebrating the year that was. At $100 a camping pass, this works out at $25 per day. Huge value for money.
The Rhythm and Vines festival officially opens at 2pm on December 29, however, if you are one of the 15,000 onsite campers staying with us, you will be able to check-in to your campsite on December 28.
The check-in opens at 9am on December 28 for the super keen campers, however, if you don't like queues we would suggest turning up around midday once things settle down. There is plenty of space and we encourage you to turn up with your friends together so to ensure you get to camp alongside each other.
MEET THE STAGES
The festival enjoys 7 stages located across the site. Meet the team.
Hi. I'm what they call the main stage at R&V. A massive natural amphitheatre overlooks me, while I look back at you crazy mofos having the time of your lives. There are a few acts this year that are going to tear me a new one (looking at you SASASAS, TCHAMI x MALAA, WILKINSON, VINCE et al). But I love it so all good. See you front left or right in the thick of it.
My name is Rhythm stage and I like bass music. I wanted to be called the face-melt stage but wasn't allowed. I've graduated this year some some pussy-ass wedding tent to a thumping open air big stage surrounded by containers and bad-ass production. Dance or die you little pricks.
VAPO presents CELLAR STAGE
Nothing to see here, just the future dancing in a forest.
Hey dude. I'm the Garden Stage. Hola! Ha, nah man, serious vibes only here man. Acoustic singalongs, surf ska rock and roll baby. Love me some sick housebeats too.
GIGGLE AND VINES COMEDY TENT
I am exactly what my name suggests. No jokes! Well…
GEORGE FM CHILLER
The Fridge has finally had a makeover thanks to George FM. Mutton dressed as lamb etc etc. Concierge services, dirty bass lines and one hell of a time for 8 people at a time. You will need to find it first.
TREBLE CAMP STAGE
Ohhh. Shhhtttt. Campers get amongst me from 1030am till 3pm. Dance amongst the vines you crazy cats.
NEW YEAR’S COUNTDOWN
I’M NOT CRYING - YOU ARE
The New Year’s countdown video has become it’s own show. Masterfully edited to capture some of the year’s biggest moments, the video brings out them feels right before the countdown and fireworks show on Vines stage.
