L.A.B Arrive With Second Album, 'L.A.B. II'

New Zealand groovers L.A.B have released their second album, L.A.B. II, following up last years debut album L.A.B.

Once again, each member shines as they hold their own yet still come together to create their own hybrid genre. Over the course of the twelve tracks that feature, the album explores different sounds, from electronic to reggae, while Joel Shadbolt’s strong vocals tie it all together. Just in time for Summer, L.A.B II is the perfect soundtrack to those balmy January evenings.

L.A.B. was founded by the legendary Kora brothers Brad Kora (drums) and Stu Kora (guitar, keys) and quickly engaged the extraordinary talent of Joel Shadbolt on lead vocals & guitar and Ara Adams-Tamatea from the mighty Katchafire on bass.

The L.A.B. sound is one which has seen them quickly become a fan favourite on the New Zealand live circuit. Trademark Kora grooves combined with Adams-Tamatea’s reggae/dub experience, and Shadbolt’s blues roots creates a sound entirely their own. Each member brings their own individual styles to the table, and the result is an eclectic mix of reggae, electronic, blues, rock, and funk, even heading into country at points.

L.A.B. is the quintessential New Zealand sound of Summer, with their soulful vocals and funky full live band set up. Check them out at Rhythm & Vines on the New Years Eve, Rhythm Stage, 7:05pm.
