WHAT IS RHYTHM AND VINES?
First things first, if you don't know, Rhythm and Vines is New Zealand's longest running 3 Day international music festival and there is no better place to celebrate New Year's than at Rhythm and Vines. What started as a party for friends, continues to be a destination for like-minded people to catch up and celebrate the year in front of some of the world's best live performers. We invite you to come join us in Gisborne, the first place in the world to welcome in the first sunrise of the new year.
A strictly limited capacity of 15,000 people will see Rhythm and Vines remain a more intimate, boutique festival, while still offering the unbeatable New Year's experience that is ultimately one massive party over 3 days. Throw in some motocross, a dash of comedy, festival fare, delicious food and drink and a whole lot more and you have yourself one hell of a good time.
And what to expect this year? Well, we've put together a tantalising list of 13 things to expect this year. Tickets are already selling fast for NZ's best New Year's party. So get in quick and lock in the best way to farewell the old and welcome in the new.
1. 2015 was something special. 2016 will be even better.
2015 was a cracker. New site layout, incredible live performances, motocross, comedy and delicious food. We are excited for what we have in store for you all for the 2016 event. To give a little taste, along with our usual tricks, you can expect to see cool sponsor activations such as UBER delivering Red Bull, Charlies or Bird on a Wire to your tent (Bird in your tent?), enter your 5-aside soccer team in a R&V Champions League, taking centre place in our new sports arena, and recovering from the night before in our wellness centre ,
2. Raising the bar
We are investing more in to the premium experience. To remain a world class festival we need to ensure we have all the bases covered. If you want flushing toilets, cocktails, viewing platforms and are willing to pay for it, you can. And if you are a traditional festival lover that just requires the basics, bar with minimal queues + stage with loud music? Well, we know we have you sorted.
Stages will be returning again with improved production and dressing include the Vines Stage, Rhythm Supertop and Cellar stage. More surprises will be released later in the year.
Programming will continue to push the envelope. We are a new year's party after all. We can't wait to unleash the first taste of acts in August, with a second release of acts in October.
6. How much for a drink?
Camp Bars - the price of beer at the campground bars will remain at $3. We will extend these camp bar hours (subject to final licence approval) till 5pm, with the festival bars charging slightly higher prices (but don't expect Auckland prices).
7. How can I get cheap or free tickets?
The earlier you buy your ticket, the more money you save. This has always been the way with our tiered ticketing. Another great way to sort yourself out is to join the R&V Ambassador program, where you can not only earn yourself a free ticket, but also earn extra goodies such as helicopter rides, merchandise, side of stages and discounted tickets for your mates. For more information, head to www.rhythmandvines.co.nz/ambassadors.
8. I don't want to camp. What are my options?
Camping ain't for everyone. We have worked hard to secure some of the best hotel and motel rooms exclusively for R&V customers. Everything is sorted for you, just purchase the package, and one of our team will confirm all the details including bedding configurations, wristband delivery as well as sorting your invite to the exclusive R&V Pool parties held at the Quality Hotel Emerald Gisborne.
9. R&V 5-aside Football
